We may not be at the end of 2011 yet, but it has been an amazing year so far.
Let’s start from the beginning!
January began with ABS Junior Regionals in Tucson. I am a huge fan of Rocks and Ropes, the Tucson gym, and love the setting. I had a lot of fun competing in regionals and ended up placing first.
February kicked off with ABS Open Nationals. I made it into semi-finals, but unfortunately did not make it to finals and placed 10th. Boulder was a fun time as always and I had a great time.
The next couple of months were pretty tame in the climbing world for me, most of my days were spent training in the gym and finishing up my junior year of high school.
In early August I learned that the trade show competition had been cancelled, which was so disappointing for me! The competition has been my favorite since I first started competing, nothing can match the energy in Salt Lake!
I still attended the trade show however, and had a lot of fun seeing my awesome sponsors and my climbing friends.
My senior year began right after the trade show, giving me a lot more time to climb with a half day schedule.
The Nor’easter took place in September, I qualified in 1st place, which was a huge accomplishment for me and something I am truly proud of. After semi-finals were rained out, I placed 7th in finals and was very happy with my performance.
The weekend after the Nor’easter I had a local competition in Arizona where I placed 1st. After a three week break I had three competitions in a row.
At the Yank ‘N Yard, Psychedelia, and Knuckledragger’s Ball I placed 4th, 2nd, and 1st respectively. I have never had so many competitions in a row and so much fun. I have also never been so sore in my life after the final competition!
Following this I had another two week break until another Arizona local that I won.
Since then I have been competition free, and am itching to compete again!
The next competition on the schedule is ABS Nationals in the end of February, and I am so excited to train hard and see how I do!
Until the next time, happy holidays everyone, and happy new year!
Let’s make 2012 unforgettable!
