What a crazy week/weekend!
This past weekend I competed at the IFSC Toronto World Cup for bouldering in Hamilton, Ontario, saw Niagara Falls, and then flew to Colorado for two photo shoots!
To start my trip off, on Thursday I flew into Buffalo, NY, with my parents. From Buffalo, we drove to Hamilton. After checking into our hotel and grabbing some dinner, we were exhausted!
The next morning we wandered around downtown Hamilton until registration began in the afternoon. After registration, I grabbed dinner with my other US teammates, Alex Puccio and Meagan Martin. It was so much fun to have a girls dinner and wind down before the competition.
Qualifiers began on Saturday morning with 5 problems, following the standard insight format of 5 minutes on, 5 minutes off. While the problems were tough, I topped the first one, putting me in 19th place heading into semi-finals. Meagan qualified for semi-finals in 20th and Alex in 3rd. Ian Dory had a stellar showing as well, placing 24th on the male side.
Semi-finals took place early Sunday morning. Meagan and I were some of the first competitors out of iso. Once again, I topped the first problem, securing my 17th place. Meagan topped two problems, putting her in 13th place. Alex, topping all the problems, went into finals tied for first.
Between semi-finals and finals. I was able to go to lunch with my parents in Burlington, about 20 minutes north of Hamilton. Burlington is a beautiful town that resides on the waterfront. The views were breathtaking. After lunch, we went to Kelly's Bake Shoppe, which is a vegan, gluten free, soy free, all natural bakery. It was such a great treat being able to eat so many desserts!
Watching finals was a lot of fun! Anna Stohr ended up winning, with Akiyo Noguchi in 2nd place, and Alex in 3rd. The problems were crazy hard as always, the girls did a great job!
The next day, I visited Niagara Falls for the first time. It was beautiful! It it crazy to think that nature can make something so amazing. We even at lunch at a restaurant overlooking the Falls, it was seriously so cool!
After out trip to the Falls, it was time to get back on another plane, heading to Denver this time! In Denver, I attended 2 photo shoots. The first was for Climbers Against Cancer, a great organization. I cannot wait to see how all of the photos turn out!
On to the next adventure...
