So I had quite the exciting weekend to say the least!
This was by third year competing at ABS Nationals, and I had a phenomenal experience, ending up in 7th place.
The comp was held in the Colorado Springs Auditorium, which was a new venue for the competition. The comp ran smoothly overall, and I know spectators were glad to have seats.
Qualifiers began on Thursday, where I sent 4 of the 5 problems, putting me in 12th place. Top 20 were taken to semi-finals.
In semi-finals I sent 3 of the 4 problems, and spent the better part of my five minute climbing time on top of problem 3 (photo above). This was enough to put me in 4th place and advance to finals! Usually only 6 competitors are taken to finals, but 7 were taken this time because of a foreign competitor.
This was my first time advancing to finals in the three round format, so needless to say, I was PSYCHED! My friend Michael Bautista also advanced, making it a very exciting experience for the both of us.
In finals, I did not send any of the problems, but had a great time attempting each problem, the setters were very creative and the wall was awesome!
I ended up finishing in 7th, with only one complaint, my legs are still scratched from the new wall! I had a great time and am looking forward to training for my upcoming competitions.
Until next time!
