So this past weekend I competed at possibly the sickest comp ever!
Psychedelia takes place every year around Halloween at The Spot in Boulder, CO. The special thing about this comp however, is that the whole competition takes place under black lights in a pitch black gym.
At first it was a little difficult to adjust to, but once I got the hang of it, it seemed just like climbing normally!
Backtracking a little bit, I was lucky enough to make the trip with some great friends, we had enough adventures for a lifetime and it is something I will never forget!
When we arrived on Friday, we immediately went for one of my favorite Boulder restaurants, Brasserie TenTen. After this we spent some time walking around downtown, trying on costumes, and having a great time.
The next day we woke up and ventured back into downtown again, where we discovered the farmer’s market! After going to the Boulder farmer’s market, nothing else will compare. Nearly everything was gluten-free, a huge bonus for me and my mom, and everything tasted to fresh. After we all enjoyed lunch and grabbing some tea at the tea house, it was finally time to prep for the competition!
Getting ready was a blast, my friends and I were outfitted in glowing attire and make-up. Once we got to the gym it was time to get started and explore this new type of competition!
I had a great time in qualifiers and ended up qualifying in second place.
Finals took place about an hour after finals ended. The format was one problem, with 4 minutes to complete it. I reached the high point on my fourth attempt and landed in 2nd place.
One thing is for sure about Psychedelia, it is a weekend I will never forget, and I plan on attending every year from now on!
More next weekend!
